Please Allow Me

To re-introduce myself...my name is...Jason. Last name starts with a V which always bugged me 'cause I'd always end up at the very front or the very back of every class in elementary school. But, enough about my past. Let me tell you why I'm here, just in case my blog title isn't clear enough.

Saving the world one keystroke at a time might sound easy enough but, damnit, its gonna be difficult! Mainly because the truth about most things has become subjective in 2009 (I'm sure I'll address this sooner or later) but, also because getting people to change (especially the people I'm interested in changing) is apparently harder than finding logic in "Intelligent Design". But, if I don't try, who will? Aside from the million other bloggers you could be reading instead of me right now. So, since you are reading me right now, let me sum up my views very briefly and we'll take it from there.

You might call me a liberal. I like the idea of reduce, reuse, recycle (the literal interpretation of the title). By no means am I a hemp wearing hippy who makes everyone around feel terrible about not riding a bike to work and playing hacky sack at lunch. I think little things count when you spread it out over the 7 billion people on this planet. I think guns should be controlled and bedroom activities (between consenting adults) shouldn't. I think socialism is villainized for a lot of no good reasons but, capitalism has its merits as well. I think that the idea that, should you be the victim of arson...911, the fire department, and the police are covered by your taxes but, your hospital bill might put you into bankruptcy...is BULLSHIT! A convoluted example to be sure but, I think you get the message. I think that the best thing about the United States of America is that our forefathers had the foresight to create a document, that could (and should) evolve with the times, as our foundation. I think that the god(s) you believe in is(are) no more real than the tooth fairy or santa clause. I also think that amidst all of the heaviness that is politics and religion, its important to love silly things like sports, music, movies, etc.

Too me, no subject is taboo, no question too ridiculous. I am a staunch supporter of the opinions I already have but I am not immovable. Stubbornness is stupidity or fear 999 times out of 1000, and I am neither too stupid nor too scared to change my mind should the facts prove me wrong. I want anyone who reads this blog to come away with a little more knowledge than they came in with. I want to inspire people to have conversations they've never had, or offer a perspective they've never thought of. I'd love to inspire change in a positive way. I really do want to save the world in my own little (semi lazy) way.

I hope to post something at least once a week. So check back whenever you can!
